𝐁𝐚𝐢𝐝𝐨𝐚, 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟗, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 – The South West State Police Command has announced comprehensive security measures, including a citywide lockdown, ahead of the election of the President of South West State scheduled for June 10, 2026.

According to an official statement issued by the Police Command, the measures are intended to safeguard public security, maintain law and order, and ensure the peaceful and orderly conduct of the electoral process.

Under the security directive, Baidoa City will be placed under a temporary movement restriction for the duration of the election. All non-essential vehicular and pedestrian movement will be prohibited. Exemptions will apply only to security forces, authorized government officials, emergency response units, and designated transportation services for approved travelers.

The Police Command further stated that emergency medical and humanitarian assistance will remain operational throughout the restriction period. Residents requiring urgent support have been advised to contact the nearest security personnel, district administration officials, or designated emergency response teams.

In a separate directive, all security personnel have been ordered to refrain from the discharge of firearms before, during, and after the electoral exercise. Authorities warned that any individual found violating this order will face legal proceedings before the competent judicial authorities. The Police Command also called upon residents of Baidoa to cooperate with security agencies and promptly report any suspicious activities, security threats, or actions that may undermine public safety or disrupt the electoral process.

Officials emphasized that the security measures are preventive in nature and are designed to provide a secure environment for the democratic transition and the successful completion of the election.
